Infectious Diseases: Control and Prevention

Dr. Ahmed G. Hegazi is working as a professor of Microbiology & Immunology at National Research Center, Dept. Zoonotic Diseases from 2004.He also has work experience as prestigious chair in Dept.of Parasitology and Animal Diseases, National Research Center. He received many awards like Senior Scientist Prize of National Research Center(1996),National Scientific Prize In Biological Sciences(1990),The Second Best Research Paper award From International Congress of propolis, Bones Aires, Argentina(2000) and many more. He Conducted training courses on Clinical Microbiology, National Research Center in 1979. He has 230 articles in national and international scientific journals along with six patents.

Microbiology and Immunology

Ashok Kapse is a consulting Pediatrician practicing in the city of Surat in the Gujarat state of India, besides owning a private pediatric hospital he is also Head of the Pediatric Department at a prestigious Mahavir Super Specialty Hospital. After finishing graduation (MBBS) he did MD in Pediatrics. Initially he has worked as a Professor of Pediatrics at Medical College Surat, later he opted out for private practice however pursued academic interest. He developed special interest and skill in infectious diseases. He is a recipient of many oration awards and delivered hundreds of lectures on dengue, malaria, typhoid and antibiotic uses across India. He has decorated many a posts in medical fields: President of Surat City Branch of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), President of Gujarat State Branch of IAP and National President of Infectious Diseases Branch of IAP are few of them. He is an avid Clinical Photographer; his photos figure into various books and atlases including the prestigious atlas of infectious diseases published by American Academy of Pediatrics. He has published umpteen articles in peer reviewed journals.

Pediatric infectious diseases

K C Santosh worked as a research fellow at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH). He worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the LORIA research centre, Universite de Lorraine in direct collaboration with industrial partner ITESOFT, France, for 2 years. He also worked as a research scientist at the INRIA Nancy Grand Est research centre for 3 years, until 2011. K C Santosh has demonstrated expertise in pattern recognition, image processing, computer vision and machine learning with various applications in handwriting recognition, graphics recognition, document information content exploitation, medical image analysis and biometrics. He published more than 60 research articles, including a book section in encyclopedia of electrical and electronics engineering.

Stef Stienstra works internationally for several medical and biotech companies as scientific advisory board member and is also an active reserve-officer of the Royal Dutch Navy in his rank as Commander (OF4). For the Dutch Armed Forces he is CBRNe specialist with focus on (micro)biological and chemical threats and medical- and environmental functional specialist within the 1st CMI (Civil Military Interaction) Battalion of the Dutch Armed Forces. For Expertise France he is now managing an EU CBRN CoE public health project in West Africa. In his civilian position he is at this moment developing with MT-Derm in Berlin (Germany) a novel interdermal vaccination technology as well as a new therapy for cutaneous leishmaniasis for which he has won a Canadian ‘Grand Challenge’ grant. With Hemanua in Dublin (Ireland) he has developed an innovative blood separation unit, which is also suitable to produce convalescent plasma for Ebola Virus Disese therapy. He has finished both his studies in Medicine and in Biochemistry in The Netherlands with a doctorate and has extensive practical experience in cell biology, immuno-haematology, infectous diseaases, biodefense and transfusion medicine. His natural business acumen and negotiation competence helps to initiate new successful businesses, often generated from unexpected combinations of technologies.

Anil Kaul was graduated from Madras Medical College in Medicine, King Georges’ Medical College in Dentistry and in Public Health from University of Minnesota. He currently serves as the Director of High-Complexity Clinical Laboratories and a Faculty at Oklahoma State University-Center for Health Sciences. He has been awarded 6 patents and has published more than 50 scientific papers. He has served as Senior Health Advisor to the US Department of State and received “Expeditionary Service Award”. In 2014, he also received “Lifetime Achievement Award” at Global Health Summit and in 2008 he was named as Sony’s “Scientist of the Year Award”.

Dr. Robert Emery is the Executive Director of Environmental Health & Safety for the University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center and Professor of Occupational Health at the University of Texas School of Public Health. Bob has 20 years of experience in health &safety and holds masters degrees in health physics and environmental sciences, and a doctorate in occupational health. Bob is unique in that he possesses national board certification and registration in all four main areas of health and safety; health physics[Certified Health Physicist(CHP)], Occupational Safety[Certified Safety Professional(CSP)], industrial hygiene[Certified Industrial Hygienist(CIH)], and biological safety[Registered Biosafety Professional(RBP)] He is an author of peer-reviewed articles on public health and Safety topics and makes frequent presentations on such issues on both the local and national level. Bob recently assumed to role of Assistant Vice President of research administration to coordinate to infrastructure in place to support the research enterprise for the health science center.

He is Qualified with PhD family and community medicine, Higher diploma respiratory Diseases Edge hills University UK, fellowship of institute for international education/New York, Master course of Epidemiology and biostatistics/American University of Beirut, training certificates on Public Health (north Carolina, Johan Hopkins and Harvard). He has supervised more than 20 PhD theses, 10 MSc Thesis, achieved about 50 research work and contribute to CDC textbook on Ethics in Public Health

Hana Zelenková has been active in the field of Dermatovenerology since 1973. Since 2000 she has been directing her own Private Clinic of Dermatovenereology. Professional orientation: aesthetic dermatology, acne and facial dermatoses, medicinal mycology (nail diseases), wound management, psoriasis, employment of Ichthyol and carboxytherapy in dermatology. She is a coordinator of many international multicentre trials. More than 555 expert lectures in the Slovak Republic as well as abroad, 440 scientific publications. Co-author of the dermatocosmetic formulae containing Ichthamol and glycyrrhizinic acid. Author of the book “Carboxytherapy” (2015), translated into 4 languages. Regularly invited to deliver lectures at international congresses. Founder and President of the Slovak Society for Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology (SSEDK), organizer and President of the traditional international DERMAPARTY congress. Since 2006 Vice-President European Society of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology, since 2007 President of the European Society of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology.

Geert Vanden Bossche obtained his DVM at the Veterinary Faculty of Ghent and his PhD in Virology at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart. Following his postdoctoral training in virology, immunology and molecular biology at the Free University of Berlin and Hohenheim (Germany), where he subsequently held adjunct faculty appointments, he transitioned to the Vaccine Industry where he served various senior roles in both early and late vaccine development at GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics and Solvay Biologicals. He then joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to serve as SPO in Vaccine Discovery for Global Health. He is founder of UNIVAC llc in the US and UNIVAC NV in Belgium and visiting scientist at the REGA Institute, University of Leuven (Belgium). Geert is board certified in virology and microbiology, the author of over 30 publications, and inventor on several patent applications. He has presented vaccine- and adjuvant-related topics at multiple international congresses.
